Joining the Flip Video camera craze is Kodak which has introduced yet another excellent pocket-snapper camera – the Koday PlayTouch. The Kodak PlayTouch pocket camcorder is actually the company’s first point-and-shoot handycam which is capable of shooting Full 1080p HD videos. Also, the PlayTouch is a competitor to Sanyo’s Xacti VPC-PD2BK which we have written several days ago.

Canon marks a decade of the company’s Ixus range with the launch of the Ixus 1000 HS digital camera. The Canon Ixus 1000 HS is also known as the PowerShot SD4500 IS and it seems one pretty interesting point- and- shoot camera which is available in colors including brown, silver, and pink. It is also aptly named as the slimmest camera on the market to come equipped with a 10x optical zoom and capable of shooting 1080p Full HD video at 24 frames per second.

Specs and features-wise, the Canon Ixus 100 HS has a 3-inhes LCD with a glass outer layer. Also, it has a 10 megapixel CMOS sensor camera together with the Canon DIGIC 4 processing system to provide quality images. Sanyo Xacti VPC PD2BK Pocket Camcorder

We’ve seen a lot of consumers go crazy about the Flip camcorders.  Maybe the design and concept just go them interested, but it seems as though a new competitor is ready to get head to head with the Flip.   And with that, let’s take a look at the Sanyo Xacti VPC PD2BK pocket camcorder.

The Sanyo Xacti VPC PD2BK is a pocket handycam which has the size of a thick mobile phone.   Despite its thickness, the pocket cam is actually lightweight at 3.7 ounces.  There are no clear details about the specs and features of this “Flip killer” here, but as we see it we can expect specs including the ability to shoot 10 megapixel images or 1080 pixel videos at 30 frames per second into H.264 format.  The pocket-sized camcorder has an integrated USB port which can be easily swiveled for connectivity.  The video camera also comes with a 3x optical zoom lens, 37mm wide angle lens, mini HDMI port, dual camera, dual microphones, Web easy upload to sites like YouTube and other social networking sites, rechargeable Li-Ion battery via USB, and a support for microSD/ SDHC/ SDXC memory cards.

Check out for this guy’s release date by September at a price of $170 in North America. With the cheap price, we can say the Sanyo Xacti VPC PD2BK makes a fascinating alternative to other camcorders and we hope to see better pictures with this one.

Another new recently announced pocket HD camcorder is Flip-like Compact Panasonic HM-TA1 pocket HD Camcorder.   This compact mini-camcorder only weighs 4 ounces and only measures 53x17x104 mm.   HM-TA1 can record 1920×1080 full High Definition video at 30 frames per second and can be used to upload your video to your favorite sharing sites like Facebook, and Youtube easily.   It can also take 8MP of still photos.

The pocket-sized digital camera features 2-inch LCD and integrated USB port. It also has image stabilization, LED flash and also SD card slot that is compatible with SDHC , and SDXC cards.

Panasonic HM-TA1 Pocket HD Camcorder

Samsung has just unveiled another ultra-compact digicam dubbed as the Samsung ST80 digital camera.  This time, the device comes pre-equipped with Wi-Fi as an addition to the company’s growing line of Wi-Fi enabled camcorders.  Now, users can brag about their precious moments by emailing their photos or uploading them on their favorite social networking sites including – Facebook, Picasa, and Flickr all without the need of a PC because of the feature.

Specs-wise, the Samsung ST80 digital camera has a 14.2 megapixel camera equipped with Samsung’s 3x optical zoom lens.  It comes with a 3.0-inch LCD touchscreen panel capable of 720p HD video capture at 30 frames per second in H.264 format. The camera’s dimensions are 92X55.4X18.5mm making it slim and rounded.

Samsung HMX-E10 Pocket HD Digital Camcorder

Added to Samsung’s line up of camcorder is the new Samsung HMX-E10 pocket camcorder.  The Samsung HMX-E10 is a point and shoot video camera capable of 1080p HD video capture at 30 frames per second.  This camcorder that is noted for its being ultra-slim meaning it’s enough to be slipped in pockets has a 1/3.2-inch CMOS sensor.  Photo addicts can also capture stills with its 8.0 megapixel camera.

What’s more surprising about the Samsung HMX-E10 Pocket Camcorder is that it features the 270-degree swiveling lens.  With the swiveling lens feature, users can experience fun into higher level when capturing videos because you can now be a part of the video without putting much effort like straining your arms by rotating its lens.
