As a mark to the company’s 25th year in laptop innovation, Toshiba has unveiled its limited edition dual screen ultra-mobile concept PC dubbed as the Toshiba Libretto W100. The name is taken from the range of notebooks that have been launched back in 1996.

What stands out from the specs of this ultra-compact PC is the dual 7-inch multi-touchscreen display at 1024x600p resolution as well as its virtual keyboard which sports haptic response.  The netbook is like two tablets or iPads placed side by side.  The device boosts a 1.2 GHz Intel Pentium U5400 processor, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, and a 64GB Solid State Drive. Other specs of this 1.2-inch thick laptop include Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi for connectivity from any hotspots, 1MP webcam suitable for video calling, a MicroSD card slot, USB port, headphone jack, and an 8-cell battery. The  Libretto W100 is run by the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system.

For the Libretto 100’s features, it comes preloaded with software like Bulletin Board Touch allowing PC users to customize a widget-like interface.  The dual touchscreen can be used together or independently depending on the PC user. Using the first screen, they can browse the web while checking e-mails and messages on the other screen. And yes, the Libretto W100 comes in six different keyboard selections like a split solution which kind of sounds interesting as far as tablet is concerned.  PC users can also enjoy the advantages of the Windows apps such as video chatting using Skype and MS Office. This brushed in metallic finish netbook also has a 3D accelerometer allowing the laptop to be rotated either to landscape or portrait mode.  Other features added to the Toshiba Libretto W100 mini-laptop are the Reel Time and PC Health Monitor software.

The Libretto W100 dual screen laptop PC is a portable device measuring 4.84×7.95 inches when closed and weighs 1.8lbs.  There is no specific info yet for its release date, but Tosh claims it will be made available late this summer at a hefty price of $1100.
