The Panasonic Toughbook S9 laptop is encased in a magnesium alloy chassis. There isn’t any news yet regarding its release date. As for the price, it’s expected to retail at $2,499. Panasonic Toughbooks have been known to be one of the most durable laptops present. They did not prove us wrong upon the launch of their Toughbook 30. Now, they’re keeping on the trend with the introduction of the Panasonic Toughbook 31 which is dubbed as the most powerful rugged notebook in the market.
The new Panasonic Toughbook 31, like the other machines form the series, is an MIL-STD-810G certified for protection from 6-foot drops, vibration, shock, rain, dust, sand, and severe variations in temperatures. It is designed specifically to meet any downtime that one would experience like the hazards mentioned so it is really tough enough to be used in the field. The toughbook is also encased in a magnesium alloy case aimed to protect against water. The hard drives are shock resistant and can be easily removed.
As for the specs of this toughbook, it packs a Core i3 or Core i5 processor depending on consumer’s configurations, an option between 160GB or 250 GB shock mounted drives, and an ATI Radeon discrete graphics useful for mobile professionals who are in need of graphic-rich applications.
The Panasonic Toughbook 31 also boasts a 13.1 inch 1024 x 728 touchscreen display with a new LED backlit for lower energy consumption, an 11 hour battery life, 2 GB DDR III RAM,and Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n with an optional Gobi2000 mobile broadband modems and WiMAX capability. We forgot to mention that this machine also has a night-vision goggles. Other features include a webcam, blacklit keyboard, GPS receiver, fingerprint scanner, SmartCard reader and locking systems for the hard disk drive.
