You probably might have seen leaked information about this dual screen smartphone back in September. However, Samsung has officially announced a Verizon-exclusive mobile phone dubbed as the Samsung Continuum. The mobile phone is said to have its release date on the 11th of November at an undisclosed price yet. Nonetheless, it is expected to sell at $199 with a two-year contract.

The Samsung Continuum smartphone comes from the Galaxy S range and offers similarly specs and features. But a thing that makes it interesting apart from the other lines is its dual screens. Yes, it gets a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED display and under it is a smaller 1.8-inch touchscreen panel at 480 x 96 pixel resolution referred to as the ticker. The secondary display works as though it’s a news ticker and can show an array of information such as news, weather, calling information, music controls, and other notifications.

As for the other specs and features, the handset packs 384MB of RAM, 512MB of ROM, 2GB on-board flash storage which can be enhanced up to 8GB of microSD card, and a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and is capable of 720p video recording. Moreover, the Samsung Continuum features a 1GHz processor, integrated Wi-Fi, and will come with Samsung’s TouchWiz 3.0 user interface. The device will also ship with Android 2.1 and will use Microsoft’s Bing as the handset’s primary search provider.

The smartphone will be available in all Verizon retail locations. The idea of having dual screens seems like fun, however it will take a while before one get used to it. So, will you be buying this device, eh? Meanwhile, let’s take a look at some images of the Samsung Continuum mobile phone.
